The Smiling Ivy Spring UK Tour 2013

We are extremely happy to announce the Smiling Ivy Spring UK Tour 2013! Brought to you by Cool Beans, a dilapidated van and beer.

For those who don’t know, Smiling Ivy are an explosive and outspoken band from Sheffield that perform an energetic fusion of ska, dub-reggae, punk and hip-hop.

Since forming in 2007, the five-piece have effortlessly clashed activism and hedonism on records – offering fans an astute and socially-aware observation of the times.

While creating danceable, floor-filling music, Smiling Ivy retain enough power and aggression to be an active fixture in the UK’s rock scene. But with reverberations of dub-reggae, funk, and hip-hop, Smiling Ivy are also an illustrious figure in Yorkshire’s urban, rave and party scene.

The band have already completely several UK tours, smashed multiple summer festivals, performed in the French Alps and supported the likes of The Selecter, Dub Pistols, Zion Train, Frank Turner, The Correspondents and even Frankie Boyle. With 3 EPs and 1 album under their belt, they’re currently writing new material as well as contributing a Beat cover version for the upcoming Specialized Charity Music Project.

They’ll be travelling around the UK in a ex-postal service van with a load of merchandise and a sound man called Sam Staton. Go to a show and witness their raw power!

Introducing The Notorious K.O.G.

FRESH BEATS AND FREE TUNES KLAXON!

The rise and rise of Mr. K.O.G. and his band of merry men over the last year has been a spectacularly tropical and frightfully enjoyable one. The Sheffield scene and beyond have most certainly been feeling the wrath of the reggae/afro-beat/dancehall/soul artist. Raving festival tents, packed club nights and ram-a-jammed music bars haven’t quite been the same since his many invasions took place.

What’s his story? Well, you’ll have to approach K.O.G. yourself to find that out. All we know is that he can rock any stage and that any tune featuring his input ends up being a certified banger.

CERTIFIED BANGER KLAXON!

Recently he’s released a free download featuring the vocal talents of Diddley Dee and the bass-slapping talents of Teddy JC. Produced by Tich of Off Me Nut Records/Squire of Gothos/Temple of Coke fame and mastered by Peter Junior of Analog Fidelity Records Fame. Bouncy beat. Instantly hummable. Ticks all our boxes straight off.

You may have also caught him collaborating with Sheffield reggae pioneers Riddimtion on more roots driven tracks like this…

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/61973962″ params=”” width=” 100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Most of you would have caught him playing out and about with his live band the Allstar Revolution…

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/75433710″ params=”” width=” 100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

And if you’ve yet to catch them The Allstar Revolution themselves are in fact celebrating their 1st birthday on the 30th March at the Riverside. Live per…

BIG MAD BADBOY PARTY KLAXON!

Didn’t see that klaxon coming. Live performances on the night alongside the group come from Sonniballi, Dnae & the Indigo Soul Project and our very own Smiling Ivy. Superstar DJ talents from Smiley Maxx, Autograff, Jah Reynolds and Selekta Chestar. More info on that here, you’d be a F.O.O.L to miss it.
